Growing up in the rural south Texas town of Rosenberg, Scott was heavily influenced by both gospel and country music. His experiences in music originate mostly from his father who has held the lead role in a gospel quartet for over 15 years. Though reluctant, but encouraged by family and friends, Scott entered the church youth choir while in junior high school and has been hooked on singing ever since. In more recent years, Scott has devoted his time and efforts to continually learn more about the art of songwriting. As a young man in high school, before learning to play the guitar, Scott began to mix melodies and rhymes with very little effort. When asked what makes a good song, Scott refers to knowledge rendered from country music legend Willie Nelson; “Everybody talks about writing song ideas down – I remember Willie saying something like, “If they’re good – you’ll remember them”, and I think there is a lot of truth to his words – he’s certainly written enough good ones”. These days find Scott taking advantage of opportunities to sing on Texas’s wealth of Opry stages and at songwriter open mics, as well as promoting the music on his debut album Scott Davis “That Guy”. “The moral behind songwriting is to share – that’s how it all started – and for me to be able to do that at any level is a wonderful thing”. |
